    April 23, 2019: Yom Hashoah speaker Andrew Smith. His mother was a Holocaust survivor of the Warsaw Ghetto, who was very active in the Holocaust survivor community. Her story and personal testimony is part of a permanent exhibit at the Imperial War Museum in London. The full name of the day commemorating the victims of the Holocaust is “Yom Hashoah Ve-Hagevurah" – literally the “Day of (Remembrance of) the Holocaust and the Heroism.” It is marked on the 27th day in the month of Nisan — a week after the seventh day of Passover, and a week before Yom HaziKaron (Memorial Day for Israel’s fallen soldiers). Mr. Smith, over the last 40 years, has been an academic,mentor, and practitioner in the field of finance. He was a research fellow and lecturer at the University of Oxford after completing a Msc (econ) and doctoral research at the London School of Economics.
