Advanced Ecology Crayfish
October 6, 2020: Members of Carly Borken’s Advanced Ecology class were collecting crayfish in the Bantam River in West Morris today as part of work for a species mapping project. With nine known species of crayfish in Connecticut, not all of which are native, students are trying to determine where invasives are located. The project is part of a greater citizen science program in conjunction with White Memorial and CT DEEP. Students participating are Oury Diane, Tate Phillips, Sarah Katz and Rina Shinozaki.
